Songsmith Records Music Workshops
Our workshops are designed to promote active and creative involvement for all. They follow musical processes from the initial inspiration and idea right through to performance, recording and evaluation. At the end of a project an original musical work will have been produced by those taking part.
The Songsmith
Des Basterfield BA(Hons) is a graduate of Salford University 's Music and Recording course. A songwriter/composer and arranger whose main instruments are guitar and violin. Since graduation he has established Songsmith Records and worked as a partner in Umbrella ( Manchester based arts group). He is very experienced at recording and delivering music workshops to a wide range of participants. Host venues have included schools (Primary, Secondary and E.B.D.) and community centres as well as arts events, open days and fun days. Projects have also been run for other bodies including Gifted and Talented, ArtXtra and Artists in Residence.
Workshop Details
Songsmith Workshops revolve around the creation of new music across a variety of musical genres. Projects are tailored to your requirements through consultation with those involved. The following areas are among those discussed during this process.

No previous experience right through to established groups. |

1 afternoon to long term projects. |

Approximately 12 at a time with The Songsmith, for larger groups extra facilitators can be arranged. |

We record the music created to aid evaluation as the final part of projects. These recordings can be transferred to C.D. for those involved if required. |
